Water Elements
I worked as part of a team to design and test water splashing and spraying elements.
SKILLS USED: Metal fabrication (cutting, grinding, press brake bending, MIG welding, oxy-acetylene bending), plumbing, water pumps, pneumatics.
The sea is an unpredictable beast. Our goal was to recreate the spray from crashing waves on demand. The rigs could be placed in shot behind rocks or just out of frame and produce a repeatable water effect on cue.
This is the test array of different pots, nozzles, valves, pumps, pressures, angles, etc. we used to refine the look.
After some testing and creative feedback I fabricated a series of pneumatic mortar pots to create the water splashes. Each has two 3/4" fill points at the top for a quick refill and a 2” hard feed at the bottom for the air to clear the pot when released.
An early test of another water gag I was involved with.
The rain spinner of a rain rig I refurbished and worked on. The name of the game was safety lines and clips on everything.
Water water anywhere.
For instance from a stream in the middle of nowhere Scottish highlands.
